FAQs & Terms
Good to know
Answers to the questions I get asked most, plus my booking terms. Making a booking confirms you agree to them.
Deposits & payment
How do I secure my date?
Your date is secured once I’ve received your signed contract and 50% deposit. I’ll let you know as soon as both are in, so you know you’re officially booked.
How does the deposit work?
A 50% deposit is required within 24 hours of booking confirmation and is deducted from your final balance. If it isn’t received within the 24-hour window, the booking stays unconfirmed and the date is released to other clients.
The deposit is non-refundable under any circumstances, including cancellations or unforeseen disruptions.
When is the balance due?
For weddings, the balance is due one month before your wedding date. For events, it’s due no later than one week before your event date.
Is there a minimum call-out?
A call-out is when I travel to you, rather than you coming to my studio. For wedding bookings, a minimum spend of $1,000 applies — AUD in Perth, SGD in Singapore. Extras such as additional makeup services or early-start fees sit outside the minimum and are charged separately. Destination weddings are priced individually.
Services
Do you offer hairstyling?
I specialise in makeup only and don’t offer hair styling. For Perth bookings I’m happy to recommend hairstylists, or you’re welcome to arrange your own.
Booking & changes
Can I change the number of services after booking?
No, services can’t be reduced once your deposit is paid and your booking is confirmed, and refunds aren’t given for reductions.
You’re very welcome to add services, subject to my availability and your timeline on the day.
Can I change my booking details?
Of course. If anything changes, such as your schedule, location or services, please let me know by email or message as early as possible. Changes depend on my availability, and additional fees may apply depending on what’s changing.
What if I need to cancel?
All deposits and payments are non-refundable. Once your booking is confirmed, your date and time are held exclusively for you and are no longer offered to other clients.
Payments can’t be transferred to another date or held as credit toward future services. If you need makeup for a different date, that’s a new booking and deposit, subject to availability.
If I ever need to cancel, through illness or an emergency, you’ll receive a full refund of everything you have paid and I’ll do my best to recommend another artist.
Before your appointment
What should I do before my appointment?
Please send me your top 3 favourite looks from my Instagram, plus a photo of your bare face. You can email them or DM me at @tiansoon_makeup. It helps us agree on your look before the day, so we can get started straight away.
How should I prepare my skin?
Good makeup starts with good skin prep! Please arrive with a clean face and no makeup. Light, well-moisturised skincare is perfect, but please skip sunscreen, as it can make your makeup pill.
The night before, a hydrating face mask you’ve used before will help give you that glow. Just avoid trying any new skincare close to your appointment, as it can cause irritation or reactions.
Should I wear coloured contacts?
For Douyin or Thai looks, I highly recommend brown or grey lenses. If the models in your reference photos are wearing lenses, wearing them will help you get a similar effect. I recommend Hapa Kristin “Sugar High Kristin”.
What if I have allergies or sensitive skin?
Please let me know about any allergies or sensitivities before your appointment, so I can choose suitable products for you. Your comfort and safety come first.
For brides
What should I do in the lead-up to my wedding?
A little prep in the weeks before makes a big difference on the day.
- Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
- Moisturise every day, so your skin is soft and prepped.
- Use a hydrating face mask 2 to 3 times a week, then the same one the night before your wedding for the best glow.
- Exfoliate gently once or twice a week for a smooth makeup base.
- Avoid trying any new skincare close to your wedding, to prevent reactions.
- Make sure your brows are clean and neatly shaped before the wedding day.
On the day
Is there an early-start fee?
Appointments before 7:00am incur an additional $50 for every hour before 7:00am. For example, a 4:00–4:30am start is $150.
What time will you arrive?
If I’m coming to your location, I may arrive up to 30 minutes early to set up my kit, so we can start on time. Please make sure everyone is ready to sit down in the makeup chair at their scheduled time.
Do I need to prepare anything for you at my location?
Yes please! 🥺 Just set aside a table for my kit. I bring quite a lot of makeup and need plenty of space, so a dining table is ideal.
If you have a tall chair, like a bar stool, please let me know. Otherwise, I can bring my own.
What if I’m running late?
Please let me know as soon as you can! If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, a $30 late fee may apply. If you’re more than 30 minutes late, your appointment may need to be cancelled or moved to another date.
Can I use my phone during my appointment?
Please keep it to a minimum. I’m sorry, I hate being the bad guy! But looking down at a screen makes it harder for me to work, and part of my job is keeping us on schedule and making sure your glam looks its best, whether it’s your wedding or an event. I promise less scrolling, better glam! 🙂
Will you take photos or videos?
I love capturing my work for my portfolio and socials, so I may take photos or videos during your appointment. If you’d rather not be photographed or shared, just let me know before your appointment.
Home studio
Where is your studio?
My home studio is in Winthrop, WA 6150, in Perth’s southern suburbs. I’ll send you the full address and parking details once your booking is confirmed.
Can I bring guests to the studio?
My studio is in my family home, so I kindly ask that no guests or visitors come along. Only those booked in for makeup can attend. Please arrive on time, or up to 5 minutes early. Thank you for your understanding.
Where do I park at the studio?
Please park on the street by the kerb, not in the driveway or on the grass. Before your appointment, you’ll receive an email reminder with a photo showing exactly where to park.
Travel & parking
Who covers travel and parking?
Clients are responsible for all travel fees and parking costs for mobile services, including valet and street parking. For hotel appointments, please arrange valet parking for the artist.
